Planning for Junior Middle School English Teaching and Research Group
Introduction
As English teachers, it is imperative that we work together as a team to improve our teaching methods and enhance students’ English learning experience. To achieve this goal, our Junior Middle School English Teaching and Research Group has formulated the following plan.Aim
Our aim is to improve students' English proficiency by providing them with a variety of teaching approaches and diversifying assessment methods to appeal to their interests and learning styles.Plan
1. Focus on Listening and Speaking Skills In the past, the teaching of English has been heavily weighted toward grammar and written work. Our group recognizes that the development of listening and speaking skills is equally important. As a result, we plan to devote more class time to activities that improve students' listening and speaking skills. Our approach will include, but not be limited to:- Making use of authentic materials such as movies, TV shows, and songs to expose students to the natural flow of conversation and improve their ability to comprehend spoken English.
- Providing more opportunities for peer interaction such as group work and pair work to improve students’ communication and critical thinking skills.
- Introducing interactive technologies that allow for contextually driven practice of spoken English, such as e-learning apps or software.
- Providing students with a variety of reading materials such as English Graded Readers, newspapers, magazines, and online articles that cater to their interests and levels.
- Setting realistic and achievable reading targets to motivate students to read more frequently.
- Introducing online reading platforms and online book clubs to enhance students' motivation by exploiting the use of technology and social media.
- Introducing formative assessment, which lets teachers gauge student learning and knowledge throughout the learning process and make necessary adjustments to enhance their progress.
- Providing students with a range of assessment tasks that cater to different learning styles and strengths, such as open-book exams, presentations, role-playing and portfolios.
- Linking assessment and class performance to student incentives and positive reinforcement, such as scholarships, trips, extra-curricular activities, or other forms of student recognition and rewards.
Conclusion
In conclusion, our Junior Middle School English Teaching and Research Group is dedicated to providing our students with comprehensive, diverse and engaging English language learning experience. We are confident that our plan will strengthen English teaching and raise the level of English proficiency of our students through diversified learning and assessment. Through our collective efforts, we hope to cultivate a generation of students who are competent, confident and passionate about English.
